Fellows
The inaugural cohort of six Murrow News Fellows began their two-year reporting assignment in April 2024, focusing on civic affairs in underserved Washington communities. The program, bolstered by seven fellows who started in October 2024, supports 16 full-time. Their beats range from voting and water rights to housing and economic policies.

Former Fellows
Albert James

An award-winning reporter who covered the Washington Legislature as a student, Albert served as the broadcast television correspondent for the 2025 legislative season. He was based at the TVW offices in Olympia, and his news packages were used for free by television stations across the state. Albert graduated from the Murrow College in 2022, interning for KIRO, Seattle’s CBS station. Before becoming a fellow, he was a reporter/anchor/producer in Medford, Ore., at KEZI, an ABC affiliate.
Jacquelyn Jimenez Romero

Jacquelyn Jimenez Romero covered the Washington state legislature, supervised by editors at the nonprofit Washington State Standard, focusing on policies surrounding immigration, labor, agriculture, and health and how they affect people’s day-to-day lives. While majoring in Journalism, and Law, Societies and Justice at the University of Washington, Jacquelyn previously covered the state legislature as an intern for the Seattle Times, and interned for The Tacoma News Tribune, WA Latino News and the Samoa Observer, in Apia, Samoa. She was one of five students nationwide chosen to be a part of ProPublica’s Class of 2023 Emerging Reporters. she graduated from UW in August 2024.
